To celebrate the official album release of Middle Classic, Jermiside & Danny Diggs unveil the music video for the second single “Afraid.” The song, featuring Irish singer Maverick Sabre, is presented visually in this stunning video that was written, directed, and edited by Illyas (of Tanya Morgan). The song itself is an excellent example of the type of feel good hip hop Middle Classic represents as a whole.
“I can whole heartedly say after 5 or 6 front to back listens, this is one of my favorite projects to date. The mix of Jermiside’s sharp bars combined with Danny’s chops and snares is just sublime. Make sure you got space on your ipod for this one.” – Donwill (of Tanya Morgan)
“Middle Classic is an album that’s pretty literal in its message. Many artists have made music that talks about their struggles growing up and living in the hood, but this album tells the story of a man that grew up middle class in the burbs.” – Von Pea (of Tanya Morgan)
About the Album Middle Classic:
Amidst an industry where many rappers claim they are either from the hood or already ballin’ when they are usually neither, it’s refreshing to hear from an artist like Atlanta-based, Cincinnati-raised rapper Jermiside who is comfortable representing how he was really raised, and where he’s at in life. Jermiside has teamed up with Vancouver-based, Irish-bred producer Danny Diggs to create Middle Classic. The ‘middle class’ theme does not tie into every single track, but on the hook of title track #9 Jermiside explains his perspective, “I ain’t from the hood, I grew up good, my situation turned out just like we knew luck would”.
Standout tracks include “Didn’t I Tell You” (feat Von Pea), “Afraid” features vocals by Maverick Sabre on the hook and illustrates the relatable honesty that Jermiside is known for. Johnny Roulette and Maverick join Jermiside on “Still With Me” where Johnny and Jerm describe their love for good women, Cincinnati as a hometown, and a relative lost too young alongside a deep, grooving, feel-good beat. Bonus track is Kev Brown’s remix of “We Here”. The album has been graced with remixes from DJ Kno of Cunninlynguists’ for “Still With Me”, Brickbeats’ remix of “Didn’t I Tell You” and Bonus Track “We Are Here” (Kev Brown Remix).
